I don't think he's doing an equivalence there.

We disagree then I guess! But it really doesn't matter whether he means they're just "similar" or whatever other goalpost move you want to do, because that's equally insane

The expression "from A to B" means both things are in the same group, nothing else. E.g. "I had all kinds of problems lately, from a sink leak to a car accident". That doesn't mean a sink leak and a car accident are equivalent.
