there are clinical ways of detecting gender dysphoria, as well. self declaration shouldn't be enough in this case at least.
There sort of were, but they've been eroded by pressure from trans trenders. Diagnostic criteria is currently loose enough to be useless. Also, Good luck trying to experimentally narrow down trans brain signatures via MRI or w/e when 80% of your "trans" test subjects are trenders
