This is one of the most penetrating & insightful analyses I've read yet on cultural trends today.
A must read from @robkhenderson https://quillette.com/2019/11/16/thorstein-veblens-theory-of-the-leisure-class-a-status-update/ …
Open borders advocacy concerns the real welfare of real people, just non-citizens. As such it's categorically different from all the other examples given, like drug use, polyamory, and anti-vaccination. "White privilege" is an edge case better understood through the Sowell quote

Interesting, I thought something similar regarding legalizing drugs, that it was diff then the other examples given of luxury beliefs. legalization removes the requirement for violence by erasing the black market which is good for everyone. I don’t see it as a negative for anyone

Decriminalization of "personal use" amounts of all substances would probably be better than full blown legalization. Simply replacing the black market with a legal market still preserves harm, there's only the argument that people have a right to self-harm to contend with.

It doesn’t matter if it is different category. Open borders in the end would hit poorest the most(state benefits and open borders cannot exist at the same time)
