in a nice country, a large family enjoys free schooling up to grade 12. get them student loans and send them to midrange technical schools, the difference isn't that big vs a "good" school (which they won't get into anyway)

Don't forget that in the age of nearly 100% of psychological, dietary and other child-rearing related studies failing to replicate, the will to invest does not map cleanly to actual investment. Have a feeling K selection would work much better given perfect, or just better info

with perfect (or even half good) info, i expect to see a declining return on investment. let's call it a logarithmic utility function to be a bit simplistic. we could then solve an ideal brood size. still bet it would be bigger than average
