Think I understand hiring manager logic now. It's basically more about risk mitigation than utility maximization. Wish someone had explained it to me sooner but it probably wouldn't have helped since I was too busy working shit jobs to survive and being schizo to work on projects
It's a boost to my confidence since it reveals to just what extent the working world is driven by basic bitch tier work rather than anything hard, meaningful, or fancy, but it also reveals just how fucked I am at the age of 30. Think I have a strategy worked out now though.
