Within this arrangement are infinitely many very stupid heuristics that mostly work. The smarter the person, the more advanced the heuristics generally, which typically means faster decisions with less information. This is a system that destroys complexity and uniqueness.
Reasoning by hard binary logic, from scratch, is a failure mode for humans, akin to navigating the oceans by the stars when your GPS fails. A Socrates is not a trainable phenomenon, but someone who has used the wrong muscles to the point they are overdeveloped.
Spirituality is another failure mode, and the more dominant one in human societies. The person who falls back on reason as a failure mode is more consistently and truly martyred than the person who falls back on unreason, yet the latter is better celebrated.
Reason as a failure mode is situated in absolute environment as its scope, while unreason as one is situated in social environment as its scope. The latter is more efficient. The most popular strains of it are also structurally pro-social in net effect, whereas reason is asocial.
