Biodiversity is important, and we don't know enough about humanity now to understand what effects genetic engineering might have. However, it doesn't seem inherently more moral for population genetics to be determined by chance than by choice. A moral, not technical observation.
Human existence is just auto-eugenic. What could be possibly be wrong about deliberately steering things?
