You sound willing to give both sides a fair chance here. Reconsider JP's tweet from the perspective that "state tyranny" is obviously a bad thing we all want to avoid. JP is concerned about factors that might, by degrees, lead us there. To me, obviously a warning, not a threat.

Factors such as what? Casual sex seems more liberty-friendly than authoritarian. Two people having sex on their own mutually agreed terms, whet isn't free about that?
