1/ In a recent Congressional hearing, executives from Sonos, Tile, Basecamp () & PopSockets called for antitrust action against Amazon, Apple, Facebook & Google. I wrote about why we should be skeptical of their claims for the newsletter:

Great article teasing out the competing interests on Section 230. One quibble though: worth noting that Facebook threw its support behind FOSTA-SESTA, too

1/ Addressing the neutrality issue (another thread). I do wish spokespeople would stop claiming that their services are completely neutral because they're not and they shouldn't be and they never will be.

20 years ago, the five largest companies in the US were Microsoft, Cisco, General Electric, Intel and Exxon. Today, it’s Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, Google and Facebook. 20 years from now, it will be a different set of companies. And people will talk about breaking them up, too.

This tweet sparked a debate about how much credit (and compensation) CEOs deserve for company performance. summarized the research & found: -CEO pay moves in line with firm value -PE firms pay leaders *even more* -CEO sudden death has huge impact on firm value
