Where's the "show me video and images on nice layout, just don't collect any personal info" option???
-
Your local library
-
LOL. There's no reason why a news website needs your personal info to show you images and videos.
-
Not even logging the IP address from which you are accessing them? Or the language preference associated with that IP address and session cookie? Not joking, those would be covered.
-
Why log the IP address? First and foremost you're going to be interested from where in the world the access happened. So just install a GeoIP database on the webserver and lookup the location and store _that_.

Yeah, and now we have to rethink that. Change happens (tautologies FY). I for one am really thrilled about the
#GDPR – why do so many people see this thing as something bad, instead of what it really is: An oppertunity! -
Because the manner of its implementation, and the collateral damage, is bad; this aspect of GDPR will be EU CookieBanner 2.0, causing friction and hassle, benefitting no-one but the lawyers.

A plain text site wouldn’t help cause you still have the Webserver logs with personal data unless you disabled logging.
-
Yea I'm trying to work out what not loading CSS has to do with GDPR.
-
Less cognitive load for people fretting about privacy.
-
Must be a terribly designed website then!
-
All websites are terribly designed, to any other designer.
-
Not if they know what they're doing.
-
See! You're one of them!
-
I'll tell you if a website is terribly designed when I can see it's data! Or if I think it's really badly designed.

Honestly, there are a lot of sites that would be MUCH better in plain text… I love Reader in Safari because of that: it just drops all of the distractions in a website. BRING BACK THE CONTENT! Drop the rest.

>Honestly, there are a lot of sites that would be MUCH better in plain text PornHub, for instance.

If it exists, there's ascii porn of it. http://www.chris.com/ascii/index.php?art=people/naked%20ladies …
