It was worth standing out in the cold to look up in awe at the lunar halo around tonight’s full Worm Moon.

Mimi Parker was one of the first and nicest people I interviewed for my radio show. This is such sad news.

Friends, it’s hard to put the universe into language and into a short message, but She passed away last night, surrounded by family and love, including yours. Keep her name close and sacred. Share this moment with someone who needs you. Love is indeed the most important thing.

Even though the outside temperature has dropped, it was still 27.5°C in my house at 6am today. It’s a shame all this excess energy can’t be put to use somehow, rather than just making the house too hot to sleep. #heatwave2022

Watching Jonny Bairstow’s sparkling innings today, it was easy to forget that the world’s best batsman was at the other end. Joe Root seemed happy taking singles to just watch Bairstow along with the rest of us. #ENGvNZ

My first day at a Test for 3 years didn’t disappoint. Jack Leech’s 10 wicket haul is almost as pleasing as his 1 run in 2019. And I spotted Lord Patel walking around so I had a brief chat with him to tell him I support what YCCC is doing now to defeat racism. #ENGvNZ

3 years ago this was just a lawn. Now I have yellow rattle, clover, plantain and several flowering grasses. I see lots of moths fluttering around in the evenings and I bet there’s lots more life in here that I haven’t seen. #NoMowMay

I’ve passed a rather sickly landmark. It’s 20 years since I last threw up. 🤢 It was in Cambodia, January 2002. I remember it vividly because it later turned out I had amoebic dysentery. Life was very different for a good 5 years after that. But at least I never threw up again.

It’s 15 November and I’ve finally harvested my last courgette of the year. It has been extraordinarily mild. Although maybe extraordinary is the new ordinary.

One of the joys of my garden is that it’s never the same two days in a row. Today I’m enjoying the browning hornbeam and the flowering buckwheat.

Hundreds of ladybirds have been trying to find somewhere to hibernate along my road. They seem particularly attracted to the insides of my window frames. Sadly, I think a lot of them are harlequin ladybirds.

I can now get 5G at home so I’ve done a speed test. I knew my broadband was slow, but the difference is amazing. Broadband: download 11Mbps / upload 2.3Mbps 4G: download 17Mbps / upload 5.1Mbps 5G: download 65Mbps / upload 19Mbps
