Come on, you act like open water in the Bering Sea is something new. I've lived there since the '50s, seen it many times before. There was very little snow or ice during the winter of 1970, for example.
And notice on the hi resolution @NWSAlaska analysis, there is now connected open water from the Bering Sea into the Chukchi to 67N. You could sail you boat to north of the Arctic Circle. In February.
