With Tully out in theaters I took the occasion to write about some of Diablo Cody's past films and the pain, wit, mundanity, vitality, and obstinance of the women at their centerhttps://www.buzzfeed.com/alannabennett/diablo-cody-tully-juno-etc?utm_term=.na9OpWQEZ#.xdZY2ZXPO …

my absolute favorite line - Seyfriend: "Oh my god, you're killing people!" Fox: "No, I'm killing BOYS."

Love this so much, but minor disagreement on the rep of mental illness in Young Adult. Seeing Mavis hide her trichotillomania, listen to her mother be ashamed of the condition, I cried. We see the illness, but there's no discussion, and its so true to life.

But otoh I guess it may actually be that for better or for worse I see myself in Mavis, and therefore no explanation is needed (to me). Writing her is the thing I would ask Cody about if I ever met her. Awesome analysis!
