Remember hydroxychloroquine? For every miracle cure advanced by a genius contrarian that works, there’s a million that don’t. The skeptics are almost always right, but their vindication is so frequent that it becomes background noise.

IMO not as much overlap as you’d think, for the same reason that believing in homeopathy doesn’t mean you believe in aliens. The nutrition contrarians want abs. The HCQ contrarians want Trump to benefit politically and for a situation that benefits from leftist policy to go away.

Haha yes you’d find some screaming that it needed to be taken with zinc with all kinds of other hoops to jump through.

My Trump supporting friend is still an HCQ true believer. No matter how many studies I share with him, he takes the anecdotal claims of quack doctors as gospel. He even rationalized Trump not taking it even though it is a "miracle cure". He's an engineer too. Really sad to see

Unfortunately we have loads of Brazilians defending it. Including our president.

Bolsonaro supporters still believe in it. Recently Bolsonaro said that, in Brazil, using chloroquine from the beginning of the symptoms, the cure rate is 100%.

There are two prominent CLD quacks who are still heavily promoting hydroxychloroquine for COVID, Steven Phillips and Christian Perronne. There’s been some interesting drama with Perronne, who has had some colleagues stand by him and others reject his conspiracy theories.https://twitter.com/LymeScience/status/1326194963290394625 …
