In 2019, it will no longer be free to pollute anywhere in Canada. Our government is ensuring a price across Canada on what we don't want — pollution — so we can get what we do want — lower emissions, cleaner air, and more money in the pockets of Canadians.pic.twitter.com/VeLh628taH

You know there's a rebate, right? So if you're greener than average, you actually *make* money on the carbon tax.

And if I am doing everything I possibly can right now to be as green as I can... I am paying more in taxes. And how does THAT help global emissions?? When other countries put out more in a day than I do in a year????

If you are doing everything you can now to be as green as you can, you are not spending and will not be affected by increased prices on consumer goods. And, rock star that you are, you will still get a refund. Win, win!! What a terrific legacy.

Is the price of fuel going to increase? Gas to heat my home? Transportation costs to get food to the grocery store?? I will be paying more. One way or another.

The idea is that big spenders (who produce the most CO2) pay the most. And, yes, normal folks will have to pay a little more and hopefully invest their rebates in energy saving measures like insulation, windows, etc.
