    Ever wonder about snaking in pattern forming systems? This article is a beautiful intro to the topic. Great work!

    \begin{rant} The feedback from rejected proposals is very useful. Consider the only comment by a reviewer: The necessary computer resources are not addressed in detail Yes, we need one laptop to do research. What else do you want to know? \end{rant}

    Research Paradox #1 It's a great day when you find a mistake/bug in your work before submission. Congratulations!😄🍾 Think of the alternative of someone else finding it after publication!☹️ Check your work carefully, in research you are always playing the long game.

    We will have more math and 3d prints next week with Ian. Beautiful stuff. As we heard last week "The more math you know, the more stuff you can make". Come and join us for a special event.

    Dear health service: I went to China a month ago. Can I be quarantined please? Preferably on the coast side with a sea view, very far away from everyone. With a few books, my laptop, internet, and espresso maker, it seems to be the perfect setting to finish a few papers.

    Hi, I am reviewer 2 I reviewed your 4-page 14-author paper Found problems, gave you the solution, suggested improvements, gave new references The 5-page report took me 3 days I don't want credit but I can't escape the feeling that I probably did more than some of the authors🤔

    Interesting: 28% drop in citations by biologists with each extra equation (not far from Hawking who said you lose half your readers with every additional equation). Currently working on a paper with 394 equations. I don't think it will be cited by biologists any time soon.

    To be enjoyed and discussed at☕️time Find out how to make espressos from this paper by Jaimie Foster et al. A very nice application of advection-diffusion equations and homogenisation that lets you find the sweet spot for the perfect espresso.

    The hyphen-curse🤔 When I learned about the bizarre negative effect of having hyphens in a title , I couldn't resist. Our most-excellent paper has 5. It will never be cited😢 How about you? How many hyphens can you claim?

    Amusingly, this article was written 20 years ago for a special edition celebrating the 150th birthday anniversary of Kovalevskaya. She has always been a personal hero of mine. I also wrote another one called "Kovalevskaya rods and Kovalevskaya waves".

    In my talk at the Archimedeans in Cambridge tomorrow, I will discuss a 1906 study by Pearson on the Intelligence of Cambridge students🤓, described on a scale from "specially able" to "very dull"🤔 Many strange statements in it like the paragraph below
