    1820 people died today. And those deaths are a completely predictable outcome of a disastrous strategy: a path that was deliberately chosen by politicians who have repeatedly chosen to ignore sound scientific advice. It is desperately sad. And we should all be angry.

    Delighted to be able to get a second copy (my first being long ago lent or lost) of this existentialist bootleg Superman classic.

    Good news everybody! Ed Pinsent & Mark Robinson's quite brilliant Silver Age Superman is back in print after 30 years. FWIW I believe it's one of the finest Supes tale ever. Top 5 at least. Seriously. It's terrific.

    If the 'British brand' has been tarnished simply by pointing out what it was that the British did, then maybe that brand was only ever just a myth? If a factually accurate assessment of the Empire has a 'knock-on-effect on our sense of patriotism', then maybe that's a good thing?

    The attitude that the Tories are "doing their best in a difficult situation" misses the point in a perfect way: them "doing their best" demonstrates why they aren't fit to govern. And we now have two clear examples of this in action.

    Remember, Japan, a country with twice the population of the UK - and more of them elderly - has lost fewer people to Covid IN TOTAL than we have this week. The Tories let it get out of control, they didn't support us through lockdown, they eased lockdown too early and too far...
