We are forever grateful to the community. It's because of them we've been able to reunite families that were torn apart by Trump's evil #zerotolerance policy. Some are still separated and with 's support, we will bring them back together again.

For those that don’t know the Flores agreement is literally one of the few remaining pieces of legislation protecting children in detention. Trump tried to destroy it during his admin, now Repubs want to do the same. Gross how little "pro-life" party cares about migrant children.
Quote Tweet
One of the reasons negotiators reached an impasse was because of Republican demands to curb releases of migrants into the U.S., including by terminating the Flores agreement, a court settlement that limits the detention of migrant children, two congressional officials tell me. twitter.com/camiloreports/…

#ICYMI the Biden admin is considering a "transit ban" similar to the one dreamed up by white nationalist Stephen Miller. Biden promised to restore our asylum system. Instead, his admin is coming up w new ways to deny asylum seekers their *right to safety.

"Foreign data sharing agreements expanded during the Trump era are still being used by the Biden Administration to separate families and deny asylum claims with little oversight or remedy for those who are falsely accused." Story by:

Anti-immigrant rhetoric often spreads the false idea that immigrants are a drain on the economy. In reality, immigrants contribute billions. In El Paso, for example, immigrants contribute $4.8 billion to the economy.

A recent senate hearing confirmed what women detained at the Irwin County Detention Center have maintained for years: They were subject to unnecessary gynecological procedures at the hands of an OB-GYN contracted by ICE. My latest for :

The temperatures are starting to drop in Tijuana, Mexico and children are in real need of warm🧣clothing. At the children's 👧🧒 learning and play space we host at our office, we often see children come in with nothing on top but a t-shirt. 1/3

When Judge Sullivan ruled #Title42 to be unlawful, we were restrained in our relief. First came the reports of the Biden Admin's plans to enact new restrictive asylum policies + now this. Some way or another this admin will find a way to deny asylum seekers their human rights.
Quote Tweet
The Biden admin. will appeal a federal court order that blocked the use of Title 42, which allows for quick deports at the border. The admin will put the appeal on hold while a separate case over Title 42 is resolved & while new regs are issued over responding to disease spread.

Family separation is still happening under the Biden Administration + no one seems to be talking about it. 's story about Felipe, a 10-year-old boy, needs to be shared. CBP officers told his parents they were taking Felipe to get a snack. He never returned.
Quote Tweet
As the story continues to be shared (thanks @Longreads) and read, Felipe remains separated from his parents. He’s been away from them since May. Meanwhile, it is unclear how many other children are being removed from their parents under the Biden admin. twitter.com/longreads/stat…

Omaha's immigration court has one of the longest avg wait times for backlogged cases in the nation + one of the highest asylum denial rates. Lack of legal rep + language barriers in an already complicated system make it nearly impossible to win a case.

It's wild that being willing to die for your country isn't enough to guarantee citizenship. It should be an automatic + easy process, but it isn't. This is wonderful news, but ALL deported veterans should be brought back. Happy for all those families who will soon be reunited. 💕
Quote Tweet
Just now: The House voted 220-208 to pass legislation that would allow certain deported veterans to regain their green cards and encourage foreign-born US service members to apply for citizenship.

Biden has QUADRUPLED ICE's “alternatives to detention” surveillance program. ICE has largest detention system & largest electronic monitoring program of any agency. "alternatives to detention" expand enforcement rather than reduce reliance on detention.

With the shelters full, migrants in Tijuana are renting rooftops just so that they can have a safe space to sleep. Conditions like this result from racist + punishing immigration policies designed to keep migrants from seeking protection within the US.

Haiti is experiencing an unprecedented socioeconomic crisis. Violent gangs rule the streets, political order hangs in the balance and a recent cholera outbreak has endangered the lives of thousands. It would be inhumane to send people back there. We need #TPSforHaiti now.
Quote Tweet
.@SecMayorkas @POTUS has yet to announce whether #TPSforHaiti will be extended and redesignated. As conditions continues to deteriorate, it is important that the USG does not add yet another chapter of mistreatment and racism towards Haitian migrants. thehill.com/latino/3757666
