Compression uses perceptual models which literally change the color when the bands are thinner than a pixel; this is best viewed uncompressed or with a vector image format
There's also a distinctive blueish border around the "green" spirals (presumably induced by the magenta) and a greenish border around the "blue" spirals (induced by the orange).
The section you selected is suffering from aliasing. If you zoom a section closer to the edge, you'll see they're the same color
