For Fraser-Wilcox illusion, is it necessary that the darker colored regions have some gradient in their color? Or would it be successful with monochromatic blocks?

When I see the left one, the right turns counterclockwise and when I see the right one, the left turns clockwise.

I can see it - it looks like wheels rotating - one wheel looks like it rotates clockwise, the other counterclockwise.

for me, left pic. turns clockwise, inner sways, center flashes or spins fast; right pic. is same but counterclockwise
