Microscopy tweeps, looking for new mounting media suggestions. Vectashield has been reducing signal and creating haze in 405 and 488 channels (especially bad in tissue). Heard good things about fluoromont-g, has anyone used and does it affect cell shape?

Another great (and quick!) read from on the dangers of oligimerization(?) of fluorescent proteins. Take home? Make the monomeric mutation!

I’m sure they taste great, but I’m slightly disturbed by the grilled chicken nuggets, they look...off. Chicken nuggets should be breaded and fried 🤷🏼‍♂️

THE DREADED INCUBATION BOX (monstrosity). I’ve yet to hear a good explanation for why we still use these types of heating units. Can anyone argue for these over a good (unobtrusive) stage top incubator?

Our new paper is out today! Check it out if you want to know more about: A) cardiomyocyte proliferation B) developing a high throughput screen C) what happens to cardiomyocytes when you inhibit your favorite kinase (detailed notes for 429 inhibitors)

Our new paper, "A simple and flexible high-throughput method for the study of cardiomyocyte proliferation", is out! To help you ease into this field, started by summarizing much of the literature on cardiomyocyte proliferation (Figure 1).

DNA Certain cell lines seem to have "boring" nuclei. Different visualizations, like color-coding for depth shown here however, show you the beautiful 3D packing and organization of the genome.

METAPHASE! Cycling cardiomyocytes exist! Will this pH3 positive cell bi-nucleate or divide to form two daughter cells? Neither, this cell was "killed" with fixative before imaging! On another note, muscle cells round up just like non-muscle cells!
