Sometimes your model is beautiful. But always remember, never marry your model, keep going on dates with reality. Clear example? The kind that wants all the information about the current virus so they can rationalize their take. Others? See reality and deploy proper precautions.

"Opportunities are much harder to quantify than costs... since you can choose which of those opportunities you actually exploit, opportunity tends to skew positive." I could listen to all day. Credit also to & for their questions/input.

I imagine it’s evolutionarily built into us to fear non human faces. Hence why helmets are worn in sports to dehumanize the look and inspire fear in others. Fun times all around. 🤘

It’s all funny because in today’s climate face masks are now back in style. I shared the story because I like the juxtaposition of how people’s rightly tuned paranoia routines kick off at the sight of a covered face.

No one’s hearing it. Train doors close as I get on the train and half the people didn’t even get on. She did. I tried to make light of the situation. She felt uneasy. I couldn’t make headway. Never saw her again. Haven’t worn a mask since.

I realized something was off. She looked slightly startled. I look around and there is fear, hesitation, cowardice, and even a man talking to himself into tackling me. So I realize how I must appear. So picture me trying to calm down a whole platform before I get tackled.

230lbs and I’m now walking on a platform post 9/11 wearing a face mask. I can oddly dazzle a room and become a focal point of conversation and draw people in...sometimes. But for the first time in my life I cleared an entire platform. I was preoccupied with her gaze.

So I’m walking towards the platform and I see her so I’m a little excited and slightly nervous. Yes I am human and I get nervous too but I thrive on that. Anyway, I get on the platform and without thinking I put on this face mask. I’m 6’0, Afghan, scruffy beard at the time

Option 2 was clearly not going to happen. I decided on option 1. There was this stunning female that I’d run I to once in a while on the train. She’s smile and we had a causal thing with friendly nods and minor chit chat. But that day I decided I was going to finally ask her out.

It would trigger massive headaches. I went to a specialist at the time and he said there are 2 solutions. 1) wear a face mask 2) take a wet towel and rub it against the metal right after it’ll the train stopped and place it in a bad and bring it to the lab to run tests.

Fun stories with gas masks: A few years ago I used to ride the train downtown for work. Whenever the train pulled up, there would be this awful smell from the brakes. Of course I was the only person with a sense of smell I knew sensitive enough to be annoyed.
