Ya I agree. I don't think he was suggesting we stop reading, but to not rely on reading as our only means of education. Sometimes failing can be our greatest teacher and lead to break throughs.

He is dense and it’s not very fair to quote an aphorism of his without context or a deeper engagement with his work because he often appears to say contradictory things and is not at all easy to pin down.
