@BretWeinstein have you ever given a lecture (that's available to view online) or written about René Girard's Mimetic Theory as it relates to evolution?

Whether he responds to this or not I’m sure that he has encountered the theory through Eric’s work with Thiel.

I'd think so. I'm not an academic, so I don't know how esoteric Girard is, but I suspect it's uncommon in academia for experts in one field (eg. Evolutionary Biology) to import ideas from experts in another (eg. Cultural Anthropology / Theology). Can't find anything online.

Girard is hard to pin down to one discipline tbh. There are academic works out there on evolutionary biology and Girard (How We Became Human), but overall people find it hard to engage with him because he covers so much.

That makes sense. I know that Bret has made a foray into this territory in discussing the role of religion and culture in adaptation. That plus the 2 or 3 degrees of separation between him and Girard made me think that I might be in luck.

I’d love to hear his thoughts as well, I’m sure he has some interesting points about it.
