I think the 21st century will see secular humanism and rationalism merge with eugenics and Promethean Peter Thiel-esque reshaping of the world. @naval is at the core of this. Atheists are going to try to become Gods. And it will create something like a century of blood.

Peter Thiel-esque... seems wrong. I think you mean Faustian. Thiel does say some things like this but it’s not utopian more “Great Man Theory” for him. Read his article, “Against Edenism”

I just read the piece. Surprised to see Thiel in
@firstthingsmag. I think it fits with my perception of him - he praises Faust, and concludes with the idea that the unknown can recede entirely in the order of a new Heaven on Earth. I think it's the archetype of the antichrist.2 replies 0 retweets 1 like -
I suppose you could assume Thiel isn’t an actual Christian and come to that view, but I’m also a Christian and understand where both of you would be coming from. Thiel would believe we can’t go back to nature so we need to actually do something, not that it is all in human power

Replying to @Ahimsa_Satya_ @AlexanderBlum0 and
He doesn’t “praise Faust” so much as hope people could at least be a bit more Faustian, and actually believe things can change, not that we can make utopia. Big difference.

I think many Christians are antichrists. I think one can profess to be Christian but actually desire personal human power. I think Thiel wants us to dream rather than to stay stagnant, but his flirting with immortality is deeply utopian, as is the final paragraph of his piece.

I think you misunderstand some of his stances. Are you a Christian? What do you mean by Human Power? That Christians should never run for public office or be involved in technology? Are you Calvinist? Catholic? Eastern Orthodox? Thiels perspective comes from an apocalyptic one

I think any Christian interested in physical immortality, running a data company called Palantir that gives information to the police and FBI, proclaiming human power over fate, is trying to make human beings into Gods and fundamentally embodies the opposite of Christian thinking

Wow you managed to both strawman Peter Thiel in that comment and fail to understand Christianity. These things frustrate you because you probably haven’t actually read the Bible you just believe in a Christianese handed to you from someone. Actually listen to what Thiel says.

I read the article and he says exactly what I am saying he says. You're wrong on this and you probably are operating on a mythical understanding of Thiel rather than his actual business ventures enacted in the world

Well it’s just funny how you literally know nothing about Christianity and proclaim to have special insight inside the mind of Thiel who has actually done debates on these topics with the likes of NT Wright.
