The Lindy effect is a concept that the future life expectancy of some things like a technology or an idea is proportional to their current age, so that every additional period of survival implies a longer remaining life expectancy. Paul has changed this into his own religion. https://twitter.com/paulskallas/status/1047330148779999233 …

A religion where somehow he gets to adjust the above definition to say “people seem to like it and it has wide acceptance, therefore it is more Lindy than something that has been around for the same time period.” Aka handwriting and typing.

“People enjoy typing, therefore it is lindy.” - Paul. Of course this has nothing to do with Lindy. Lindy doesn’t care if you like something or it makes sense to you, it is just a expectation heuristic based on hidden risks in non-tested tech/ideas.

It isn’t saying anything other than that for some reason something has been around for awhile so we expect it to be around for awhile. It says nothing about why or why not. Paul, however, seems to have a magical ability to decide such things rather than using the heuristic.

Anyway, he should know that humility is lindy. If not just for Zahavian Signaling.
