However, What if what you enjoy requires background knowledge that is difficult and annoying? Should you set those books down? I say no. And I say it’s easy to just set these aside and never make it through to the other side.

A good quality of higher education is that you are forced to actually study the pre-requisites. You’re less effective at options trading without background in math and statistics. You’re less effective at interpretation without background in the original language.

But these things are hard and most do not enjoy reading 800 page books on mathematics or statistics. I’m not saying school is necessary but it can help to force you to do things you don’t like.
