Buddha was the Real Thing Buddhism is a cop-out Jesus was the Real Thing Christianity is a cop-out Followers seek only prescriptions They settle for "worship" And disrespect the potential within them By rummaging through the scraps the Real One left behind.

What do you mean by “worship”? Humans are Mimetic, if you believe you’re getting your desires from something besides others, you’re falling for the Romantic Lie.

Could you clarify ? My understanding of what you said: People derive expectations and desires from others and the romantic lie is some value X which is highly sought after and super human ?

We get our supra-instinctual desires from others through imitation of role models. Believing you get your desires from somewhere else like inside yourself is really another way of saying you get them from your collective unconscious, where your models (gods) have been expelled.

Doesn’t this create a dilemma of origin? If I get my desires from “role models”, and they got their desires from role models, then whom is it that had the first desires that all others are mimetically enacting?

Good question. As humans evolved imitation increased beyond instincts to essentially spurious imitations. A child randomly grabs a toy from the box, another child imitates his seeming desire, first child’s desire is created by second child and reciprocally reinforced.

At this point in history, we receive our models from “culture” which is the herd instinct.
