Christian baptism seems to be an inverse stoning. Your friends (enemies) gather around you and give praise (insults). You are submersed in water (killed) as a means of entrance (expulsion) from the community. There is of course deeper reasoning but it seems striking.
No it’s probably a different church. We aren’t German anabaptists (although we are) we are The Old German Baptist Brethren Church which is direct line of Schwarzenau since moving to US in the 1700s. Mostly are in Ohio or Pennsylvania but are national.

I don’t think they have a church in Philly. I am not a member but was raised as one and still have many family members in it. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_German_Baptist_Brethren …

We have had a few splits and there is a range of traditionalism as some still drive horse and buggy. Most do not have radios, TV or the Internet but some liberals still do. I for one am a huge Bob Dylan fan, watch Friday Night Lights, and am Tweeting atm.

Well to quote Bob Dylan, "you gotta serve somebody."
