I've decided every man should know how to survive off the grid. We live in a time where man is fragile. He depends upon technology to survive and make it through the day.

Understanding how to hunt, build shelter, start fires, dress wounds, etc. is knowledge few men have in the modern world. Every man possessed this knowledge a few hundred years ago.

As a man, one of your primary roles is to be a protector of your family. In an age where cyber warfare is becoming a real threat, how many modern men could ensure their families survival with no power grid? Even for just 60 days I’d venture to say the numbers are quite low.

Now then, apocalypse aside, the real issue I’m seeing here was brought up by my homie
@dopaminendreams. We live in a world where our time and attention is under constant attack. You can hardly hangout with your friends or go on a date without someone pulling out their phone.1 reply 0 retweets 4 likesShow this thread -
This is sad. We rarely live in the present anymore, because no one has the attention span to do so. We need to be sucked into our dopamine-induced, online world every few minutes Kids arent playing outside, no one knows their neighbors and our friendships are reduced to a “like”

Side note: if I’m on a date and the girl is on her phone. No second date for her. No except. You should follow this rule as well.

This idea of going off the grid is not an "anti-technology" rant. In fact, I'm a huge fan of modern technology and the internet. The internet fucking rules. However, there is a deep, natural yearning for man to withdraw from society from time to time.

Many great men, thinkers and writers have been known to withdraw from society. Even Buddha and Jesus were known to venture into the wilderness to meditate and pray. Yet this idea seems foreign and is almost always laughed upon in 2018

You basically have to be plugged into technology in 2018 or you are an outcast. I'm concerned for where this will lead a society.

I'm not really sure where else to take this thread. These are just some thoughts I've been having lately. I would love to hear you guys input. You seem grounded in truth and reality.

Definitely agree! Withdrawal from society can be a good thing, but I think the issue is hat our connections are all only partially real. Having 1k friends on social media with no friends IRL is way worse than just having 5 good IRL friends.

I'm also concerned that the companies behind social media are now censoring us. So not only are you an outcast for not being on social media, but you are also told what you can and cannot say. I see very little good coming from this.
