By temporary certainty I don’t really mean ideologically. I mean let yourself operate in an environment where there exist a high degree of non-oppressive order. This seems most often found in a happy family setting, grilling out and watching the kids play.

It can be other things but in order for your thinking to not enter a feedback I’ve found it’s easiest when in the presence of others (can’t stop thinking by yourself) and submitting your thinking to the topics of conversation.

Additionally, it can be meditation or prayer, and this is available to everyone at any time. This should be done regardless, but I also would not consider it as easy on your mind as orderly distractions. But it seems to have longer term benefits.

And then there is art. I’m not sure if art relieves suffering but it can allow you to express it and perhaps transcend it in some way. It can even be a gratuitous over indulgence in pain in an attempt to overcome it.

Absolutely, but it is still a distraction or an indulgence it seems. One can create the most beautiful painting but one will still die and all his works will be dust.
