These who try to escape mimetic desire fall for it the hardest. The path for dealing with mimetic desire is the Middle Way.

The goal isn't to escape mimesis. Samsara is nirvana.

Because mimetic theory is based in anthropology and observed behaviors, not in metaphysics. You actually see people mimicking each other. It's not some abstract thing. It's literal rather than a metaphor for the unknown.

In what way would you argue Christ was or remained in mimetic bondage? If he wasn’t or did not, then is it not feasible that there is in fact a way out? Thanks

@Ahimsa_Satya_@BrunoPerennou@GirardForum know the Bible better than me and could elaborate further. My problem with the phrasing is that Christ was a Being-in-the-world. He is embedded in the world of mimetic desires. He doesn't escape, but rather deal with them in the best way -
Jesus claimed in John’s gospel that His disciples will know the Truth and it will set them free. So I’m riffing on that in relation to the idea of no way out from mimetic bondage. I’ll let the idea of Christ as Being-in-the-world percolate through my brain for a couple days.

I don't know what "mimetic bondage" means. AFAIK, that's not a term Girard used.
