If you prefer the idea of killing your enemies instead of loving your enemies, you can cite the Bible. There are even verses to authorize killing babies...if that’s your thing.

Yes, the Bible is a violent book. But not because God is violent; rather it's because WE are violent; and the problem of human addiction to violence is unflinchingly depicted in the Bible.

Moses, Joshua, David, and Elijah all killed their enemies. Nothing new with that. But when we get to Jesus, he tells us something new—Jesus tells us to stop killing our enemies and to love them. Jesus is Lord over all...and that includes over the Bible.
