I’m not sure. It seems to be directed toward Jews to hold to the Torah in faithfulness and for familial stability which effects the community at large. In relation to the hero cycle I’m not sure what to do but quote Jesus on this very commandment...

That’s pretty much what I had in mind. I didn’t mean to exclude any other meaning of the commandment, just to point out that young adults who do not honor their parents damage the community in ways they don’t understand until it’s done.
