Ok, I don't know the situation in the USA but in France it's a known fact that, mainly in higher jobs, women get less salary increase for example. At equivalent qualification and job, they are less payed than men. In France at least, it's not only a matter of child-rearing.
That paper you linked was just wrong man, you’re arguing about authority right now when I’m arguing the facts and the science. Unless you understand this stuff, we can’t have a discussion. Because you don’t understand how that INSEE article is just meaningless statistic until..

... a multivariate analysis is done on why their are differences in the first place instead of just assuming it must be bad and moving on to finding ways to rectify the situation and produce symmetry in your platonic ideal.

No, The articles only USES INSEE statistics, it comes from the inequality observatory, an engaged institute. I only say that they use reliable datas. But I have found it just right now. I bring it as an example not as the base of what I say, that seems obvious in France.
-
Then that is not the paper I’m asking for because it doesn’t answer the question at all, it just tells us the average and that there is a difference, no multivariate factor analysis whatsoever. Not questioning he integrity of the data gathering.
-
On wages, nothing is obvious to me : I (try to) live with 2/3 of the minimal wage and women are equally payed at my level. "Glass ceiling" far away. But what is obvious is that women are under-represented in decision-making bodies. So I tend to believe in wages differences.
-
Setting aside average wage differences, I agree that women are not being represented in many senses amongst the decision makers of society as it concerns politics and the upper levels of business. But I would add that they are the primary decision makers wrt consumption.
-
As the US and most of the West are primarily consumption driven economies, who makes household purchasing decisions as it concerns food, clothing, and entertainment is actually the key economic decision makers for the country as a whole.
-
Leaders of business should be serving those consumption decision makers. Of course they also try to manipulate those people into thinking they need them and they also often try to ensure that they are making money at the expense of others.
