Reading “a theatre of envy”; and I’m more curious about what happens when people become aware of their own mimetic desires. So if everyone was perfectly aware, is there potential for contentment? Or is the only contentment found in accepting the game (despite losing friends)?

My view might be controversial, but I don’t think it wasn’t shared with Girard. It’s that you can never rid yourself of Mimetic desire, you can only to some degree channel it into a model. The choice of model matters greatly, Girard recommends Christ.
