  2. Going from waitressing a year ago to now carries a LOT of life-adjustments. But 3 paychecks in has shown me how 1 of the greatest scams in US is the idea that financial struggle is due to “poor character.” It’s a huge myth designed to keep people from empowering themselves. /1

    3) My job as an advocate (I hate “ally”) is to amplify the voices of those folks on the ground, doing the work, who will be most impacted by GA’s anti-choice heartbeat bill. Not to call for a boycott that will hurt GA residents most of all. 4) Donate to GA orgs doing the work.

My thoughts about Georgia’s anti-choice heartbeat law. 1) It doesn’t go into effect until 2020, so please amplify that for GA residents who need to make healthcare decisions before then. 2) I don’t live in Georgia. So it’s not my place to call for a boycott. 1/

  7. The idea that Black women get hired simply because they are Black women is pervasive in the entertainment industry, particularly among white men. It is laughable. Black women, lastinx women, and indigenous women work SO hard just to be seen.

  8. Even choosing the name Loqueesha is racist, coded to sound loud and "ghetto." Our names are beautiful and stemmed in a dream of individuality and representation. Every nameless Black female interpretation is rooted in misogynoir.

Free and formerly enslaved black people made their way to the thriving hamlet that offered a school, a church and a newspaper that published the alphabet, reading lessons and prayers. The community produced doctors, journalists and educators.

People laughing is not proof that something is a joke. White people laughed at lynchings. Reporters calling this a joke don't know what a joke is and are offering an opinion favorable to Trump. 'It was a joke' is Trump's favorite defense.
