I haven't looked """traditionally""" attractive much at all and nor have I really cared to, to be honest, it didn't suit me anyway. I think I'm probably perceived as a lot more handsome now than I ever was perceived as beautiful before.
I did once deal with someone telling me that they thought trans people were just ugly and unhappy about it by telling them, "no, I actually have a great rack, thanks, but I'd trade it for a flat chest in a heartbeat anyway and also can you not say stupid transphobic shit, k"
that was...special. how do you come to the conclusion that "hmm, I'm not very pretty" easily translates into "oh I know...I should GROW A BEARD!!" instead of "I could up my makeup game I guess, work on my contour, could help" I literally cannot imagine lmao
semi-relatedly, I'm finally growing my hair out for the first time in years now that I firmly read as All Male All The Time and it's kind of a neat look. it would definitely be called ugly on a girl right now, though (even if I don't agree)
thinking about it more, I COULD dress up and make myself 'pretty,' but I didn't bother and openly didn't even want to bother, and especially in school I think this was a worse offense to peers than looking kind of weird in the first place. being undiagnosed ADHD and probably ASD
in a very small school just kinda meant that everyone saw me as The Village Freak and 'attractiveness' was not a metric that people often attached to me in the first place, and I sure as hell didn't...which made me a huge outlier while everyone else was worrying about appearances
