Where was the mercy for those he killed.

Absent. But today is today, and before merciful God and a tormented world I choose mercy.

Imagine appealing to the good nature of others but having none of your own. Bob you are bad on the inside.

Bob is the kind of person who calls for empathy for those on his political side, but none for his opponents. This is especially egregious when you consider that lefty terrorists like the Weather Underground tend to fall into very cushy and influential jobs after they get pardoned

But isn't that the way most of us, right or left, are? Does that mean most of us are "bad on the inside"? Maybe so. But that doesn't mean Bob doesn't have a point, and maybe the way to stop being "bad on the inside" is to start showing mercy to our opponents as well?

Not if you're saying it in bad faith.

The point itself is a good point--assuming it IS a good point--whether it's said in good faith or not. Sure, it's legitimate to condemn the hypocrisy of someone who advocates it but doesn't abide by it, but that's irrelevant to an assessment of the point itself.

No it's not. It's someone else holding me to a standard they have no intention of living up to for thier own gain.
