How've I never heard of Trivers Willard hypothesis before? It predicts good-condition parents favor sons, cause good-condition sons reproduce way more than good-condition daughters, and there's less variance between high and low condition daughters.

Matt ridleys ‘red queen’ covers it too. It cited rich families as having around a 2:1 prevalence of males. I think the prevalence in presidential families for sons has been diminished after bush, clinton, and obama, since the time of publication.
