Rain seems the obviously superior weather to me. I only really enjoy being outside when it's raining. It drastically improves my mood. I love the feeling and the sound and the smell. I don't understand when people call it yucky weather. That feels offensive somehow.

People buy negative ion generators. Pounding surf. The minutes after a heavy storm and the rain stops. The feeling after taking a long shower. Sitting next to large fountains. I'm not sure about the current science, there used to be a fair amount of articles about negative ions.

Might be a working class experiential divide? If you've HAD to be in the rain, working as things get muddy and slippery and cold, that might change your view of it. When it's 'nice' out you can comfortably hang out and work without conditions steadily degrading.

In warm climates, wet = muggy, can't sweat away the heat, things get stinky. In cold climates, wet = cold cold COLD!! If you're often in situations where you have to be outside, or being unable to go outside and stay outside is a great inconvenience, rain is a killjoy.
