do you ever just get overwhelmed with bittersweet beauty and you don't know what to do about it so you just sit there a little uncomfortably and compulsively drink tea

Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world... but honestly yes sometimes the beauty of the world can be overwhelming, and it can be equally sad and tragic. youtube.com/watch?v=Qssvnj

I've thought about this experience before and see it as sort of an example of Jeffrey Gray's "behavioral activation theory", where there's heightenened sensitivity to non-reward stimuli ("bittersweet") and novelty but not enough to evoke high energy responding.
A middle ground.

There's a beautiful, complex, and violent waterfall in Vermont that would be almost certainly be a fatal kayak run at Spring Flood. It shakes the Earth. I've sat & watched it, postulating pathways, for hours. Tea optional.
