Is there a term for the thing when you have a complex problem (social issues, economics), switch to a metaphor, solve the metaphor, and then see if the solved metaphor maps as a solution back onto the problem?

Solving metaphors, argument by metaphor are very weak strategies and poor arguments. Argue relevant facts, solve problems directly

It’s only as weak as the metaphors you’re using. Powerful, deep metaphors exist for certain problems and can lead to powerful solutions

I was tempted to say “social science” but then I realized that “social science” is not really interested in seeing if it maps back.

Lol I was thinking about this recently. Best I got was simply "insight". Since that's the only aspect that is usable after working through the metaphor angle. Nothing flashy about that.
