I wouldn’t blame you at all. Plus, coursera.org and OpenCourseWare can give you access to a good amount of that knowledge. You lose some signaling power to some employers, but you don’t have to pay that debt, which is important.

College isn't all about the education for me it was living away from home. Socializing with people my own race for the first time, and learning to be independent.. the degree was inportant also.. as for debt yes it's way too expensive these days

You really have to know your ROI of education. When it works, it works. When it doesn't, it cripples.

Never explicitly thought about it this way til recently: the diploma is mostly about signaling. Signaling smarts or perseverance. We're dumb fucking apes lol.
