There is something bizarre about “high-IQ” as an identity core like with Mensa. Like a trade union of capitalists or a commune of libertarians. Or that South Park joke about the anti-semitic sect of Judaism. Shouldn’t you be winning Nobels, rather than performing identity?

I suspect frustration at being in social roles they feel underutilize their intelligence or insufficiently reward it with status might be a factor in joining “I’m so smart, I should be running this city, instead I’m just a lowly accountant” etc

That's probably testable, but idk how to get that data. I never really thought of that as the option, though. I've generally felt that insecurity doesn't go away with higher social status.
