Sometimes when I get distracted during a song or film I feel a little guilty, because I imagine that I'm the creator of the song/film, and watching someone not pay full attention to the thing I've made feels so bad, so I whisper a little "I'm sorry" every time I pause to go pee.

i thought only I did this. I feel terrible in cinemas when my mind wonders - or, is that the fault of the film for not holding my attention? Side note: This also happens to me during sex, is that common for others?

How about those people who walk away, or get a snack AS THE MOVIE IS STARTING. such criminals. Or who watch a movie although they missed the first 10 minutes. Insanity.

Sometimes when I pay good money to experience a song/film in the privacy of my own home, I get frustrated over not being able to control my viewing experience, to the extent that rewind and fast forward don't work.

You don't owe artists your attention. It's their endeavor to captivate you, or not.
