The categories of both rape and mugging encompass a wide range of the 'trauma' spectrum, with probably a significant amount of overlap.

Right. But if you had to choose not knowing where on the spectrum it would fall and either could result in your death, knowing nothing about the perpetrator, which would it be: Rape sans Mugging or Mugging sans Rape?
