A child is about to die. To save it, you must cast a magic spell that increases total global unemployment by 0.01%. This problem is repeated over and over. Would there ever come a point where you allow the child to die in order to prevent unemployment raise by 0.01%?

The global population will soon unemployed AND thankful. I am now the king of the world, none of them have anything to do but fulfill my wishes, which include keeping *some* factories running and distribution chains working. If someone does not obey, I let their children die.

I cast it 10,000 times. No human ever has to work again. Robots take over. Humanity begins a new golden age of art, science, and leisure. I'm reviled as a villain until the singularity, when our AI overlords erect my statue on every offworld colony.

I would immediately presume that I am living in some kind of simulation, to have been placed at a precipice of having the power to make such a precise choice. And so, neither the child nor the potentially unemployed people are real.
