Do you believe any medically unnecessary surgery on the genitals of an infant should be illegal?

If a consenting adult undergoes a surgery for the purposes of hygiene, that seems fine to me.

Hygiene??! You can clean foreskin without removing it!

I don't think tradition makes circumcision okay, but I also don't like restricting religious freedom. I also think that, like abortion, it'll still be performed—but less safely. (I already consider it unsafe.)

In this day and age, the hygiene excuse would be limited to places of poor sanitary conditions.
Hygiene is myth people tell themselves. Circumcision has always been about power and control over another persons body.
Historically you are incorrect. The original 'medical benefit' of circumcision is that it reduces the pleasure and ease of masturbation.
“Safely for a millennia” really? Jewish circumcision a: takes off far less foreskin than western circumscisions and b: is. not. safe. In a traditional bris the rabbi puts his mouth on the child’s penis after he cuts it
Circumcision of a penis is not actually more hygienic, people just think it is
