False equivalence, innit. An abortion isn't "signing away legal parenthood", it's kind of a lot more than that

It isn't a question of equivalency. It is a question of whether or not men should be able to avoid both the rights and obligations of fatherhood in the event of an unwanted pregnancy.

Nope, he should not. Both knew, or should have known, the risks from the start. The female gets an extra chance for takesies backsies, because lucky for her, that's how the biology works out, but that was known from the start as well. Don't like the rules of the game, don't play.

*Anticipates follow-up question where the female is compelled to continue a pregnancy*

This is an interesring question. If women can abort a fetus without father's consent, then fathers should be able to terminate all father's obligation to a fetus without mother's consent also, since fathers cannot decide to abort a fetus.

We just have our scales in the opposite configuration. We're at the same point on them and agree on why it's a false equivalence

Indeed but that's a power women don't have. Womne can't forgo legal responsibility for their offspring without having an abortion. Allowing potential fathers that power would be a policy based on the presupposition that an abortion is *just* giving up legal responsibility

Some areas have protected surrender sites for women.
